Who we areIn a nutshellIntermezzo (formerly BlanK imeJry) is Ray Kim's songwriting, recording, and (hopefully!) performing endeavor. We are an original contemporary group whose music closely resembles styles of various artists such as Journey, Toto, Chris DeBurgh, and Kenny Loggins, just to name a few.
The nitty-grittyFirst of all, a little about my background: I grew up playing classical piano and began writing instrumentals in high school. (For my musical vita, click here.) I started by writing while sitting in front of the piano, then gradually migrated to assembling MIDI-sequenced works. Eventually, I started writing lyrics to go along with my work.Realizing that I needed a creative outlet to give life to my work, I proceeded to team with Jerry Russell, a vocalist from Schenectady, NY, to record demos. (Some of it is a long story, much too involved to include here. If you really want to hear it, just ask.) Intermezzo is...
Why the name?An intermezzo, according to Webster's Dictionary, is "the musical composition coming between the main sections or divisions of an extended musical work." First and foremost, I wanted a name that was indicative of my classical background. It also describes the group in that it is adapting with transition, changing with the times, and moving forward. My musicAs stated above, I've been writing since high school. I submitted one song to a song contest and garnered Honorable Mention recognition. I've received a great deal of praise from many people, almost all of whom have said that my music is highly marketable. Here's a partial list of songs (in alphabetical order) that I've written or co-written:
I've recorded many of these songs into a demo and put them onto a CD.
